About
Welcome to Wabi Sabi Marshmallows. I used to make marshmallow as a kid, last year I decided to make a batch. BOOM!! I was in love again with these delicious fluffy cloud of joy. Next minute I am cranking out batches of mallow. This is what I am supposed to do as it brings such joy and happiness.
I also work as a Japanese teacher which is why there is a Japanese influence in the name and my marshmallow. Wabi Sabi is a Japanese philosophy, wabi-sabi (侘び寂び) is a world view centered on the acceptance of transience and imperfection. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of appreciating beauty that is "imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete". It embraces the simplicity and the imperfections which gives us an understanding in life that brings more value and beauty. It offers us refuge from the idea of perfection in the modern world. Accepting the flawed, aged and simple. Wabi Sabi argues that the perfection lies within imperfection, instead we strive for our personal excellence which is enough.
Our signature Marshmallow is Kintsugi. Kintsugi comes under the umbrella of Wabi Sabi's teachings. Kintsugi is the ancient art of piecing broken objects together and filling them with gold. Kintsugi is a reminder that broken things can be beautiful. In life the broke parts gives us resilience and fortitude. This is where the beauty lies.
Our Marshmallows are not only amazing clouds of fluffiness they are gluten free, dairy free, nut free and egg free. Both of my children are coeliacs and were diagnosed at a young age. I love that I can make gorgeous treats that includes everyone. Inclusivity is a the heart of Wabi Sabi Marshmallows.
Enjoy our beautiful marshmallows, they are unique, delicious and no one marshmallow is the same. They bring joy and include everyone. It's not just marshmallow is Wabi Sabi.
